October 02, 2026

Thanks to a $50,000 grant from , students in ±¬ÁϳԹÏ꿉۪s HVAC program at the Advanced Technical Skills Institute (ATSI) are gaining hands-on experience with advanced inverter technology.

±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø is one of just 18 institutions nationwide selected for the eighth cohort of the Metallica Scholars Initiative, which supports career and technical education programs preparing students for skilled-trades careers.

The grant is helping ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø bring Mitsubishi Electric inverter technology into HVAC training. The energy-efficient technology is increasingly used in the industry, giving students valuable experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and servicing equipment they may encounter on the job.

The investment strengthens ±¬ÁϳԹÏ꿉۪s hands-on HVAC training while helping prepare students for in-demand careers across the Kansas City region. Check out the video below.
