Your guide to applying for financial aid

Whether you're a new, returning, or future student, follow these steps to apply for financial aid and keep your aid on track. ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø's Federal School Code is 002484


Step 1: Apply to ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø

Before financial aid can be fully processed, you should begin the admission process.

  1. Complete the ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø Application for Admission.
  2. Set up your account when you receive your admission confirmation email.
  3. Access your my±¬ÁϳԹÏÍøKC student email regularly. Financial Aid will send important updates there.
  4. Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended, including dual-credit courses taken in high school.
  5. Meet with a Student Success Advisor to confirm your program of study.

Step 2: Complete the FAFSA

To determine general eligibility for financial aid, you must submit the (FAFSA) for each year you want to receive funds. It is FREE to apply. Submit your FAFSA as early as possible to maximize aid opportunities.

Before You Start, have the following ready:
  • ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø's School Code: 002484.
  • Your FSA ID to sign electronically
    • You can apply for or request your FSA ID on the .
  • Your Social Security number
  • Driver's license (if applicable)
  • Tax and income information
    • 2024 tax information for your 2026-2027 FAFSA
      (fall 2026, spring 2027 and summer 2027)
  • Bank account information (if applicable)
  • Parent income information (if required)

Additional helpful information

  • Provide consent to download IRS data for both you and any other required (spouse or parents if applicable).
  • If you have a job but did not file taxes, use your W-2 forms to find your income information (these are mailed by your employer by January 31 each year)
  • If you are 23 years old or younger you will likely be considered dependent (the application will guide you based on how you answer the questions) and will need your parents' income information. If your parent receives any child support payments for you, owns any businesses, or has stocks or bonds, a record of those items will also be needed.

Step 3: Check your email and my±¬ÁϳԹÏÍøKC Student Center

After submitting your FAFSA, watch for Your FAFSA Submission Summary. You'll receive a summary from Federal Student Aid showing:

  • Your FAFSA results
  • Any errors that need correction
  • Additional requirements or verification requests
Check Your Financial Aid Portal

Log in to my±¬ÁϳԹÏÍøKC and review your Financial Aid section regularly. You may be asked to submit:

  • Federal student aid report
  • , tax worksheets and proof of income
  • Copy of driver's license
  • Eligible non-citizen proof
  • Verification worksheet

Financial aid cannot be finalized until all requested items have been completed.


Step 4: Enroll in classes

Financial aid awards are based on your enrollment level. Once you've registered for classes, ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø can calculate the aid you may receive.


Step 5: Apply for scholarships

Don't stop with FAFSA!

±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø offers a variety of scholarships that can help reduce your educational costs. Complete scholarship applications early to maximize opportunities.


Step 6: If you need student loans

Loans are optional and must be accepted separately. To receive a federal student loan:

  • Accept the loan offer in your Financial Aid Portal.
  • Complete Entrance Counseling.
  • Complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) at studentaid.gov.
  • Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours each semester.

Keeping your financial aid

To continue receiving aid, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements:

  • Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • Successfully complete at least 67% of attempted courses
  • Submit transcripts from all colleges attended so ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø can accurately determine eligibility
